Banking conference set to attract global audience
Newcastle Business School is calling for papers for an international banking conference that it is co-hosting in London.
The International Conference on Banking and Finance is being held from 1-3 June 2016 in partnership with London South Bank University (LSBU) and London Metropolitan University. It will provide a platform for academics, research students, policy makers and practitioners to present and discuss major critical banking and finance challenges and issues. Participants wishing to contribute papers are invited to submit an abstract across a broad range of themes.
Keynote speakers will include Jon Norton, Director at Wells Fargo Capital Finance, one of the top 10 banks in the world. Other speakers will be confirmed shortly.
Doctor Zhibin Lin, a Senior Lecturer at Newcastle Business School, said: “This promises to be a popular and highly insightful conference that is already attracting an international audience of delegates and speakers. We are expecting particularly strong interest from China, due to links Newcastle Business School already has there and because Anglo-Chinese business and investment opportunities are so positive right now. LSBU’s Southwark campus is also an ideal location, right by London’s global financial centre and easily accessible for those working in the City, including many of our alumni.”
Explaining the background of the conference Doctor Lin added: “I had originally been working with colleagues here at Newcastle on a special issue for the International Journal of Financial Studies, looking at mergers and acquisitions, and investor psychology. However, collaboration with fellow academics at LSBU and London Metropolitan broadened the range of themes and we soon realised an international conference would generate far greater impact. I am enormously grateful for their help and to LSBU for providing such a fitting venue.”
The conference aims to cover a broad scope of banking and finance issues, including but not limited to:
- Bank Lending
- Financial Policy and Regulation
- Corporate Finance
- Financial Markets
- Financial Crisis
- Risk Management
- Corporate Governance
- Online/Digital Banking and Online Security
- Mergers and Acquisitions
- Behavioural Finance
Professor Kevin Kerrigan, Executive Dean of Newcastle Business School, said: “At the end of last year we were named Business School of the Year in the prestigious THE Education Awards. We are also part of an elite group of the top 1% of business schools world wide – and the only in Europe – to have a double AACSB international accreditation in both business and accounting. So it is fitting that we are able to work with our partners to host globally significant and influential conferences such as this.”
