Facebook launches live video streaming feature
As one the biggest and most powerful social platforms in the world, it’s exciting to see that Facebook is now recognising the importance of live video communicating. The launch of the new video streaming feature, reflects the ever-increasing shift towards live video in consumer technology and communication.
A recent report by BlueJeans found that 85% of employees are now using video as part of their personal lives, however only 28% of employees feel that their employers are proactively encouraging them to use video to communicate at work. This shows a huge disconnect between the demand for this new communication channel and what employees are actually able to use at work.
With organisations on board, live video has the potential to transform the workplace, increase collaboration and efficiencies, saving time, and reducing costs to both individual employees and businesses as a whole. It also helps position brands as tech-savvy, forward thinking, innovators. It will be interesting to see how this development in consumer technology from Facebook will infiltrate the business world over the next few months, as you can guarantee this will make big waves in the live video space.
