Funds raised and forum launched at CBIT event

Bristol professionals gathered at the offices of law firm Clarke Willmott LLP for an evening of fine wine in aid of the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT).

Sponsored by Towry Financial Management, the event raised over £500 for CBIT and launched a new forum which aims to raise the profile of the charity organisation in the region.

The forum, supported by Clarke Willmott as well as Foot Anstey solicitors and St John’s Chambers, has been launched following the success of similar groups in the North West.

Local clinical negligence and personal injury lawyers attended the event and heard more about the work the charity does.

Lisa Turan, CEO of Child Brain Injury Trust, said: “Every 30 minutes, a child or young person will acquire a brain injury. This could be the result of an accident, an illness such as meningitis or encephalitis, a poisoning, a stroke or a brain tumour.

“A brain injury has a devastating and life-long impact on the child and their whole family. Bones can mend and scars can heal but a brain injury stays with you for life and impacts on everything you think, feel and do.

Marguarita Tyne, Partner at Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office, said: “We, along with Towry Financial Management, Foot Anstey and St John’s Chambers, are pleased to be able to support the Trust, which does wonderful work supporting those affected by these injuries.

“The forum is a great way to spread the word in the South West.”

The Child Brain Injury Trust provides advice, information and support to families of children and young people who acquire a brain injury, helping them come to terms with what has happened and give advice on how to deal with the uncertainty that the future may hold.
