Taylors Solicitors creates special brew for beer festival

Taylors Solicitors will be raising a glass to Blackburn Youth Zone this bank holiday weekend, as the firm has created their own beer for Blackburn Beer Festival!

The annual festival is in aid of the town centre youth club facility — Taylor’s chosen charity. This is the second time the firm has produced a special ale for the festival.

Following on from the success of Taylors Tipple last year, staff at the commercial law firm led by Senior Partner, Tony Catterall, have once again joined forces with the master brewers at Thwaites to create Taylors Tipple Two – a clean and full English bitter ale with a slightly dry finish.

The ale, which is initially sweet with full malty, biscuit and caramel flavours, is balanced by an earthy well-rounded bitterness with hints of citrus fruit, has been specially crafted by the experts at Thwaites.

Tony said: “The brewers at Thwaites gave us a fascinating insight in just what it takes to create the perfect ale and I’m sure people will enjoy the results of our collaboration. The fact that this is in aid of Blackburn Youth Zone, makes it even better because Taylors is a long-standing supporter of the charity.”

Festival-goers will be able to make their own minds up about the solicitors’ brewing skills when the 4.8% ale makes its debut at the Blackburn Beer Festival, but Tony is delighted to say that the ale gets the expert’s seal of approval.

Brian Yorston, Head Brewer at Thwaites, said: “It was a delight to welcome back Taylors. We had a great day with the Taylors team, showing them the science of brewing and helping them to come up with their perfect beer.

“They wanted to create a traditional English bitter and what they have brewed is a very tasty, full-flavoured beer, under the expert guidance of our talented brewers. I think it will be very popular when it goes on sale in Thwaites’ outlets next month.”

The beer festival will run Friday 29 to Sunday 1 May and will showcase over 70 real ales from across the North West and beyond, plus an eclectic selection of ciders and lagers.
