FedEx Express Becomes a DofE Gold Partner
FedEx Express is proud to announce a new level of sponsorship for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, through which FedEx Express will support the charity’s Diamond Ambition to encourage two million more young people to do their DofE by 2020. In exchange for its help, FedEx Express has been recognised as Gold Partner, a special status awarded to the DofE’s most generous supporters. FedEx Express is committed to connecting people and possibilities, which aligns perfectly with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award mission to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements.
With the charity’s Diamond Anniversary celebrations taking place this year, the DofE has never been more relevant, offering successful personal development programmes for the next generation of leaders. The DofE has been the catalyst for young people to give it their all since 1956. Each young person doing their DofE controls their journey, setting their own challenges and targets, pushing personal boundaries and gaining meaningful experiences. Over the next five years, the charity aims to directly impact two million 14 -25 year olds, equipping them with a sense of self-purpose, self-confidence, responsibility and resilience.
The strong relationship between the DofE and FedEx Express will aim to achieve a positive impact on young people’s lives and local communities, while also supporting those from disadvantaged backgrounds. In addition to its wider involvement, FedEx Express is also the Headline Sponsor of the DofE’s spectacular “star studded” ‘Diamonds are Forever’ Gala evening, which will take place at the iconic Stoke Park in June, with over 600 guests in attendance.
The volunteer efforts and local community investments that FedEx team members identify and drive are part of the company’s wider commitment to investing $200 million in more than 200 global communities by 2020.
“As a DofE Gold Partner, we are working together with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to support and empower young people from all backgrounds, giving them a sense of purpose and self-belief. Joining forces with the DofE, we aim to provide a path for them to learn the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen career,” said Brenda McWilliams-Piatek, vice president, Marketing, FedEx Express Europe.
“We are so grateful for FedEx’ generous support of our Diamond Ambition to help two million young people across the UK through the DofE over the next five years. Being the key sponsor is already making an important difference to the charity’s need to raise more funds to support a growing number of young people from diverse backgrounds through the DofE. Thank you FedEx Express, we are looking forward to celebrating success together over the year ahead,” said Jacqui Larcombe, fundraising director, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
