Community-powered itcher launches Seedrs funding campaign

Entertainment recommendation app ’itcher’ is inviting its growing user base to invest in the company as it begins its latest round of funding

itcher uses its large community to help accurately match movie, book, music and videogame recommendations to each user, no matter how diverse their tastes. It’s this community-focused ethos that has inspired itcher to turn to its community for the latest stage of funding, to help accelerate the development of the brand, through the public launch of its funding campaign on Seedrs today.

£250,000 worth of investment already secured…

With over 50% of their £500,000 target funding already raised, which includes investments from a number of itcher users, it’s an exciting opportunity for anyone to become part of the future of entertainment recommendations technology. itcher’s community has increased by 75,000 members in 2016 alone, and with 31 million entertainment recommendations to date, the platform is definitely striking a chord with entertainment fans across the world. itcher’s Seedrs campaign will be the company’s first round of external fundraising to date, with the company being completely self-funded since its launch.

No-one wants ’Similar to’ recommendations anymore…

Whilst most online entertainment services have their own ‘similar to’ recommendations, they’re not always accurate, meaning anyone can easily waste their time and money on something they don’t end up enjoying. itcher has revolutionised this format by matching the taste profiles of their passionate community members, helping them find what they’re looking for based on multiple interests, no matter how varied they may be.

Backed by a power-house C-Suite Management Team…

itcher was co-founded by Daniel Rovira, William Cooper and Richard Brindley, who together hold a wide range of experience in the technology industry and further afield. Daniel Co-founded MadBid.com in 2008 and successfully built it to a £20m business, whilst William co-founded Achica, the members-only luxury lifestyle store, in 2010, together with Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of Asos.com. WiIliam was also the former Chief Executive of TradeDoubler (listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, operating in 20+ countries, 650 staff). Richard has extensive CTO experience including NetShelter Technology, MadBid.com, Vibrant Media Limited and ItsWine.com.

Community-Powered becomes Community-Financed…

Speaking about the new Seedrs campaign, Daniel said:

“It has always been important for us to ensure itcher’s users are a major part of what goes on in the company and have a place in the decision making process – after all, itcher’s community is what makes it. We’ve had some great successes in 2016 thanks to our growing community, but we’re now looking for further investment to help take itcher to the next level, to develop the platform further and make it work even better for all our users. It’s incredibly exciting to see how the itcher community is reshaping the way we discover entertainment and our new crowd-funding campaign on Seedrs is open to anyone who wants to join us as we embark on the next exciting chapter for itcher.”
