Barratt Developments celebrates increased work with local tradespeople

To celebrate its work with local tradespeople and to recognise the integral role they play, Barratt Developments North East has hosted its Annual Partner Awards at Hardwick Hall in Durham. The event applauded how the housebuilder is currently working with 71 local subcontractors across various disciplines, an increase of 18 compared to last year. The Outstanding Performance Award went to G D Contracts. Funds were also raised at the event for Marie Curie North East and Tiny Lives, with the current figure at £4,540.38 and more donations continuing to roll in.

The event, which is in its fifth year, saw higher attendance than ever before, with over 400 people from local subcontractors and suppliers, who have seen a turnover of over £74m through their work with Barratt over the past 12 months. The subcontractors, which were from a wide range of disciplines, including bricklayers, roofers, plumbers, plasterers and landscapers, have all worked on various Barratt Developments across the North East over the past year.

Scott Lester, Construction Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented:

“I want to congratulate all those who won an award and thank everyone for coming. It is so important that we recognise the fantastic work that local tradespeople do and to celebrate the success of the developments they have supported us with. They form a core part of our business and continue to help us produce five star quality properties. It is great to have been able to increase the amount of local companies we can support as the number of homes we are building continues to grow. We also expect to be working with even more subcontractors over the next few months.

“It was also great that we were able to raise £4,540.38 for our top two charities, Marie Curie North East and Tiny Lives, which supports premature and sick newborn babies and their families in Newcastle. They are both such worthy causes and we are proud to be able to contribute in this way.”

Barratt Developments is currently building properties across the region, including at Mount Oswald in Durham, City Edge in Newcastle, Teal Farm Village in Sunderland and Grey Towers Village in Middlesbrough.
