Bury-based vacuum packaging supplier secures RBS funding deal
The Vacuum Pouch Company, a packaging firm based in Bury, has landed a new funding deal to support its growth strategy and new blue-chip client wins.
The family-run company secured the working capital facility from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) after seeing its turnover leap from £4.3m to £5.3m over the last 12 months.
Founded in 1988 by Chris McCormack, today The Vacuum Pouch Company is run by Chris’ son Adam. The firm operates from a warehouse facility in Walshaw, where it employs a team of 15, importing vacuum packaging from a number of overseas suppliers and selling to businesses across the UK and Ireland.
Director Adam McCormack said: “The business has continued to perform well over the last 12 months and we are pleased with the growth and success that we have achieved.
“We set up our own manufacturing facility last year at our headquarters in Bury. This has enabled us to increase production to meet the ever increasing demand we are facing from our customers.”
Adam continued: “The working capital facility from Royal Bank of Scotland will be a real support to us during this time, enabling us to focus on growth without worrying too much about the impact heightened expenses may have on cash flow.”
Last year, The Vacuum Pouch Company set a target of achieving a £7.5m turnover by 2018 and increasing that figure to £10m by 2020.
Gavin Elmes, a senior relationship manager at RBS, commented: “We have worked with Chris and Adam for a number of years now and I am pleased that we have been able to continue to support them to achieve their growth aspirations for the company.
“The business has achieved excellent results in recent years and the working capital facility will provide the firm with additional head room to continue to focus on expansion.”
