Investment Manager named as finance sector rising star

A young investment manager from London has been lauded as one of the top rising stars of the UK finance industry.

Now in its sixth year, CityWire Wealth Manager’s Top 30 Under 30 list has combed the UK private client sector to identify the young professionals who are making their mark. And this year, Isabel Howdle, investment manager at wealth planning and investment firm Gale and Phillipson, made the grade.

25-year-old Isabel, who joined the company in 2012, said: “I’m passionate about what I do and I’m incredibly proud to be featured in such a prestigious list. Working with other qualified, motivated professionals has made a huge difference to what I felt I was capable of. I joined a very good team where I was valued as an individual and this helped cement my determination to do a good job.

“Angelica Carr, one of the company directors, has been a big influence on my career in particular. She is a business coach and she has given me invaluable insight and advice.

“My advice for someone just starting out would be to take advantage of whatever opportunities are available, and don’t be afraid to make your own – sometimes it pays to just ask!”

The Top 30 Under 30 list is based on a combination of professional qualifications, which range from the CFA to chartered wealth manager status, academic achievements and the scope of the responsibilities they hold at their companies - including running client money, being members of investment committees and other decision-making duties they have day-to-day.
