Tyneside’s Rosewood Packaging acquires Manchester business of Scott Packaging

The Manchester operations of manufacturer Scott Packaging, trading as Henry Sutcliffe Ltd, have been acquired by family-owned Tyneside firm Rosewood Packaging.

The deal, completed for an undisclosed sum, marks the acquisition of Rosewood’s sixth manufacturing facility and brings its employee count to 150.

Established in 1953, Rosewood already operates four manufacturing centres in Tyneside and a production site in Wolverhampton.

The firm’s group sales director, John Lord, said Rosewood has been aware of Henry Sutcliffe for a number of years.

He commented: “Their product range dovetails neatly in with ours in both timber packing cases and crates, and performance corrugated packaging – the business, like Rosewood on Tyneside and the George Hill Rosewood site in Wolverhampton, it is also part of the highly regarded Tri-Wall Europe fabricator network.

“This product range, combined with its highly skilled and experienced workforce, made it a very attractive acquisition for us.”

Speaking further, John said the acquisition aligns with Rosewood’s ongoing plan to expand across the North West.

He continued: “The site will be known as Rosewood Packaging (Manchester), and we will provide the business with the support needed to assist its growth and to ensure that the site remains one that we are all proud of.”

With the purchase of Henry Sutcliffe Ltd, Rosewood will now cater for additional clients in the automotive and defence sectors.

Adam Rayner, an associate solicitor in the corporate team at Newcastle law firm Muckle LLP, led the transaction.
