Major Contract Completed By NECC Training
One of the biggest training contracts awarded to NECC Training has just been completed with a total of 67 employees at Jarrow-based HVR, awarded Apprenticeships in Performing Manufacturing Operations.
The staff, who represent a third of the workforce at the high voltage ceramic resistor manufacturer, were all trained in manufacturing apprenticeship skills which included technical and production line knowledge.
Andrew Robson, Head of NECC Training said: “HVR is a great example of a business which shows a strong commitment to developing their staff. It is a positive role model for other manufacturing businesses and we are delighted to have played a part in their team’s development.”
NECC Training worked with HVR to develop a training framework for each employee, both men and women, and ensure their individual skill needs were addressed.
Lesley Elves, HR Manger, HVR said: “I had worked with NECC Training for several years and realised they could be a huge help to me when I started at HVR. They have been an excellent support to the business and our staff have benefitted massively as a result. Our reason for doing the training was the desire to improve our customer service as well as making sure everyone had a good skill level. It has paid dividends for us already and ensured everyone in our company is well-trained and committed to continuous improvement.”
HVR is a global business which exports 98 per cent of its products to Europe, America and Asia. It is in many cases the sole supplier of ceramic carbon resistor products with an impressive blue chip list of clients.
The HVR head office is still based in Jarrow, where it was established, 25 years ago. The Group also has factories in Birmingham, Germany and America. It has expanded substantially in the last year with its workforce growing from 130 to 172 in the last 12 months.
