Law firm Hillyer McKeown establishes Brexit Response Team

North West law firm Hillyer McKeown has set up a new team for handling enquiries from businesses in the wake of Thursday’s EU referendum vote.

The company established the Brexit Response Team to answer legal and general business questions posed by the region’s SME community.

Since the results of the vote were announced on Friday (June 24), the company said its diversified business services, HM Financial Services and HM Business Growth, had been busy answering calls from clients as the full implications of the Brexit vote become clear.

Hillyer McKeown’s managing partner, Steve Harvey, said: “The dramatic events of last night’s vote to leave the EU and this morning’s resignation by the Prime Minister have been truly seismic.

“These historic events will take many days and months to assess and to begin to understand the likely implications for business owners in the UK.”

He continued: “We have set up a Brexit Response Team to ensure that our clients are able to access all the guidance and advice they will need as we enter uncharted waters.

“There will be many legal and broader business questions that emerge over the coming weeks that will need interpretation and action.”

Speaking further, Steve said a number of the firm’s clients have built successful companies in the UK and abroad, and have strong export relationships with EU states.

He added: “Our clients are telling us they are looking to Government to ensure stability in the months ahead. It is absolutely vital that politicians ensure that the millions of SMEs in the UK remain at the forefront of their minds.”

Hillyer McKeown Group, which has offices in Liverpool, Wirral, Chester and North Wales, announced earlier this month that its revenues hit £6.4m in the last financial year, with staff numbers rising from 65 to 90.
