DART Training offers alternative path to employment

If you’re set to leave school shortly and are still deciding what to do next, or have already started a training course and realised it’s not for you, then a Derbyshire training provider may be able to help.

Shardlow-based DART Training is offering 16 – 18 year olds the opportunity to follow a non-traditional, land-based further education path to employment.

DART, which works across the Derbyshire area, specialises in the provision of government-funded training programmes for young people and adult workers, who want to gain a nationally recognised qualification and additional skills to advance or secure their job prospects.

The company offers dedicated land-based training opportunities, which are ideal for 16 - 18 year olds living in rural areas or young people who have already left school or don’t want to follow an academic career path and are wondering what to do next.

It offers a wide range of courses across land-based industries such as agriculture, animal care, trees and timber, horticulture, dog grooming, local environmental services, as well as veterinary nursing and small animal care.

Its schemes include Foundation Learning (Level 1), Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) and Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3). Supervised managed placements for one day a week are also available for school age learners where relevant.

All DART’s courses offer flexible learning for both the student and employer – and as DART doesn’t operate through a traditional academic year, learners can join a course at any time, which is particularly beneficial to those young people who haven’t decided on a career path, or change their career plans mid-term.

Commenting on DART’s exciting range of land-based courses, Anne Morgan, managing director of DART Training, said:

“Our courses are ideal for 16 – 18 year olds who are about to leave school and want to go on to further education, but don’t feel that an academic career is for them. We can also help young people who are yet to decide on a career path, or those who may have decided their current course isn’t for them.

“Our wide range of learning opportunities give young people the chance to train for a future career in a land-based industry, at the same time as gaining valuable on-the-job training. In some cases, we can even help our students find employment.

“The flexibility of our courses is ideal for young people who find that their current educational path is not for them and want to join one of our courses mid-way through the year,” added Anne.

DART Training Ltd was founded in 1999 with the dedicated aim of meeting the training needs of those working in the land-based industries. The company’s office and operational base is in Shardlow in Derbyshire and the geographical areas it covers include the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.

In 2014, the company merged with Nantwich-based Reaseheath College.
