Manchester’s NJL Consulting maintains Yorkshire growth strategy despite Brexit uncertainty

The bosses of NJL Consulting, the Manchester-headquartered development and town planning consultancy, are pushing on with their cross-Pennine growth plans despite the economic uncertainty following June’s Brexit vote.

The firm, which employs a team of 12 at its base in Manchester, recently expanded into Yorkshire with a new office at Park House in Leeds city centre.

Over the coming 12 months, NJL said it intends to hire three new members of staff in its Leeds team as the office takes on new projects.

Director Rob Crolla said the uncertainty created by Britain’s decision to leave the European Union will not prevent the firm from bringing its expansion plans to fruition.

He commented: “Despite the shock of Brexit, we want to push ahead with our expansion plans to ensure we are best located to offer our clients across Yorkshire the highest possible service.

“The Northern Powerhouse agenda and the strength of the Yorkshire and Humber economy meant that Leeds was an obvious choice.”

Speaking further, Rob said he believes the decision to launch in Leeds has provided NJL with the perfect platform for advising clients from both sides of the Pennines.

He continued: “Leeds’ strategic location will also enable NJL Consulting to service clients further afield, for example in the North East, East Midlands and East of England.

“We see the Northern region as playing a key part in our success and we’re now perfectly situated to service clients across that northern belt.”

NJL Consulting’s managing director, Nick Lee, said securing Yorkshire clients and developing the Leeds team remains “an ongoing priority”.

He explained: “While we’re still to realise the full impact of Brexit, as a company we have experienced sustained growth and a widening of our geographical coverage.

“Our second office in Leeds reflects the desirability of this city as an investment location, and it’s perfectly situated for us to service our existing and emerging client’s needs. We are confident that in a post Brexit UK the Leeds office will go from strength to strength.”
