Next phase of Stonebridge Business Park to create 160 Liverpool jobs

Regeneration firm St. Modwen is creating dozens of new jobs with the next phase of construction at Stonebridge Business Park, Liverpool.

A ground-breaking ceremony attended by Mayor Joe Anderson on Friday (July 22) marked the official start of work on site at the Sugarbrook Drive development.

The project will create 160 permanent and construction jobs and deliver 63,657 sq ft of speculative warehouse space across four units.

The units, each of which will have its own self-contained yard and range from 5,020 sq ft to 31,157 sq ft, will add a total investment of nearly £4m to the region.

Building company Caddick Construction is creating the new space, with work due for completion by February 2017.

So far, around 231,000 sq ft has been built at Stonebridge Park, which the current phase following the construction of a 69,197 sq ft parcel distribution centre for delivery company DPD (UK).

Additionally, work on a 15,700 sq ft speculative phase of starter units at Stonebridge Business Park will round off next month.

St. Modwen’s North West development manager, David Nuttall, said: “Our continued commitment to Stonebridge Business Park reflects our confidence in this location and our belief that there is demand in the local and regional economy for high quality accommodation.

“These latest units will complement the offer we have at Stonebridge which will have a total of 295,000 sq ft of accommodation over 50 units when they are complete.”

Mayor Joe Anderson commented: “This further development is another sign of both Liverpool’s economic success in job creation and the faith of developers to make and build speculative investment in our city.

“I pledged to make our city one of the country’s most business-friendly locations and this is an important site with a great deal of potential, because it sits so close to other parts of our city region.”

All four of the units are available for purchase or to let. Real estate advisors Bilfinger GVA and Knight Frank have been appointed as joint agents.

Caddick Construction’s regional commercial manager, Mark Rich, said: “We’re pleased to begin work at Stonebridge Business Park, as this further cements our status within the Liverpool region.

“There will be a lot of excitement on the ground as the site begins to change and take shape over the next few months.”
