Clarke Willmott and MRF celebrate £72,000 partnership

Bristol law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has celebrated its success in contributing over £72,000 through fundraising and donations to Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) during a two-year partnership.

Representatives from both Clarke Willmott in Bristol and MRF celebrated at a farewell party to mark the end of the law firm’s ‘Charity of the Year’ commitment which has run for two years from 2014-2016.

Staff at the Bristol office of the national law firm contributed to the £72k total by organising a number of events, including an Amputation Training Day raising £7,500, a Paediatric Brain Injury Day raising £2,500 and Monopoly and Question of Sport challenges both raising £3,500.

Stephen Trump, Clarke Willmott personal injury and clinical negligence Partner, said: “It has been wonderful to support MRF for the past two years and everyone at Clarke Willmott is delighted with the total we collectively contributed to the charity.

“MRF does fantastic work in raising awareness and supporting those affected by meningitis and septicaemia and I look forward to continuing to work with the team to improve training for health professionals and to achieve better outcomes for people with disabilities, including those affected by meningitis.”

Meningitis kills around 1,000 people around the world every day. Meningitis Research Foundation is the leading charity in meningitis research. Its aims include stopping all from being affected by meningitis, ensuring people survive with fewer disabilities, and widening access to vital information and support.

MRF Corporate Fundraiser Tianna Cowan said: “Clarke Willmott have been committed and passionate corporate supporters of ours since 2014. Their fantastic contribution has helped to fund our unique ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ event for children disadvantaged due to meningitis, facilitated key research projects, and assisted in raising the profile of the disease and our vision of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.”

Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office will be supporting Unseen UK as its next Charity of the Year.
