Unseen UK is Clarke Willmott's new chosen charity

Clarke Willmott LLP has announced Unseen, a Bristol-based charity supporting victims of human trafficking and modern slavery, as its Bristol office ‘charity of the year’ until 2018.

The charity was selected from a shortlist of four worthy causes after a vote in the law firm’s Bristol office, with Unseen winning by a clear margin.

Unseen provide victims of human trafficking and modern slavery with support, shelter, and ongoing care, as well as working with the Home Office and the UK’s Human Trafficking Centre to help develop and shape UK policy. The charity has also achieved prominent news coverage this week, appearing on the BBC to raise awareness of their cause (www.unseenuk.org).

Unseen will follow on from the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) as the firm’s Bristol office charity until 2018, and will benefit not only from fundraising events such as Clarke Willmott’s Challenge 90 event in September and Unseen’s Neon Night Walk in October, but also from the firm’s employees volunteering their time to the charity.

Bonnie Martin, Partner and Head of CSR at Clarke Willmott, said: “We are delighted to welcome Unseen as our Bristol office charity and look forward to contributing to this important cause.

“The work that Unseen are doing to help put an end to the suffering of the many victims of human trafficking and modern slavery is very important and we are proud to be supporting them in their essential work.

“At Clarke Willmott we recognise how fortunate we are and are keen to give back to the communities in which we work.

“As well as fundraising through a number of exciting events, our people also generously give their time to work with the community.”

Kate Garbers, Founder and Managing Director at Unseen, said: “We are really pleased that Clarke Willmott has made the decision to work with us and look forward to working together to help victims of slavery and human trafficking.”

Clarke Willmott successfully contributed £72,000 to Meningitis Research Foundation during their partnership.

Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with seven offices across the country, including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
