Altrincham-based High Access to feature in BBC Living Wage documentary

High Access, a provider of high-level property maintenance services, is set to feature in a new BBC documentary examining the pay of Britain’s workforce.

The Altrincham-based firm was selected for inclusion in Can Britain have a payrise? after taking steps earlier this year to paying all its employees the UK Living Wage – a minimum hourly rate of £8.25 against the current national minimum wage of £6.70 for those aged 21 and over.

The show will focus on the debate surrounding the Living Wage and use High Access as a case study.

The firm’s HR director, Fiona Carter, will appear on the programme when it airs this Wednesday (August 24).

She commented: “To say that introducing the UK Living Wage has been a beneficial step for High Access would be an understatement.

“The feedback we’ve received from the team has been overwhelmingly positive and, in return, we have seen an improvement in productivity and employee morale.”

Fiona added: “We understand the new wage levels have proved challenging for some businesses to maintain so don’t make light of it but our business is doing well and this is only because of our people.”

Earlier this year, High Access revealed plans to expand its Birmingham and London teams after landing a seven-figure investment boost.

Can Britain have a payrise? will be broadcast on BBC Two at 8pm.
