Housebuilder supports the industry with new apprentice intake
Local housebuilder, Barratt Homes North East, has shown its continued support for the future of the construction industry with the appointment of three new starters on its apprenticeship scheme. The apprentices will work in joinery and bricklaying on a variety of building projects across the Newcastle region.
Jamie Laughton, Apprentice Joiner, Ashan Choudury and Mitchell Wadsworth, both Apprentice Bricklayers, recently began their career with Barratt Homes North East with an induction day at the house builder’s Newburn office. The three new starters will work for two years as apprentices before being given the opportunity to carry on for a third year to gain a Level 3 qualification, after which they could be employed full time by the five star house builder.
Garry Petty, Contracts Manager for Barratt Homes North East, commented:
“We’re committed to supporting the future of the house building industry and the ongoing work that is carried out to help plug the skills gap in construction. There is so much talent in our region and we’re excited to welcome Jamie, Ashan and Mitchell to our team. The induction day was a great way to help our apprentices hit the ground running and we’re excited to see them develop over the next two years.”
Barratt Homes North East is currently building at a range of developments across the region, including South Fields in Morpeth and Leven Woods in Yarm.
