Britcon to assist with £1m transformation of haulage firm's HQ in Bradford

Shipley Transport Services has appointed Britcon to deliver a new £1m extension to its 6-acre Bradford headquarters at Junction 26 of the M62.

The project includes a 9,956 sq ft warehouse addition and a bespoke new DVSA standard, 4,380 sq ft workshop facility.

Established in 1980, Shipley Transport Services is a family owned road haulier. The company specialises in full loads, part loads and pallets and can provide Moffett Mounty and tail lift deliveries.

This has allowed Shipley Transport Services to conduct special deliveries to The Olympic Stadium, Wembley, The Emirates Stadium and Canary Wharf as well as music festivals in Brussels, Paris, Berlin and Prague and goods to refit shops for Marks and Spencer.

Employing around 80 people, the company also has a mixed fleet of over 50 vehicles and 100 trailers. The fleet in the main is Volvo and Mercedes along with some Daf and Iveco trucks.

David Clarke, managing director, said: “As we progress steady expansion we are committed to a continued investment in a modern fleet and modern warehouse facilities.

“We also needed a high standard, below ground inspection pits so that we could facilitate our own vehicle safety inspections and servicing in house for maximum efficiency.

“Britcon has demonstrated immense experience in the transport industry, particularly through its specialist work with DVSA, and as such were able to replicate the high standard for our own needs.”

Britcon, the building and civil engineering specialist, will complete structural works for the warehouse and workshop as well as concrete to the yards with drainage and other groundworks.

Britcon’s sister company, Britcon Engineering Services is also providing bespoke steelwork for the project.
