Global rollout sparks recruitment drive at Darlington FinTech firm

Darlington FinTech firm MyFirmsApp is set to create a raft of new jobs, amid plans to upscale its operations, after securing a £130k funding package.

The business, which makes custom app platforms for accountants, is recruiting for 16 new members of staff to add to its current 24 workforce, following the grant from the Let’s Grow campaign.

Launched in 2013, the app has since attracted over 750 clients and 150,000 end users. By 2019 it expects a fivefold increase in end users to one million, while also growing its custom app clients by a third to 4,000.

Providing accountancy firms with custom apps featuring accounting information, tax calculators, marketing tools and real time data collection, the technology has been rolled out into Australia, South Africa, the US and Ireland.

Giving an insight into the company’s future vision, CEO Joel Oliver said: “Accountants’ clients are increasingly being steered towards engaging digitally via their mobiles with third party software vendors and HMRC, which is aiming to make tax evermore digital.

“While accountants risk disengagement from their customers, SME clients in particular may miss out on the benefits gained through the impartial, expert advice that only accountants can provide.

“Our aim is to see more and more accountants take advantage of our truly world class solution to the challenge of digital disruption. We want to put accountants first with their clients so that at every point of digital engagement those clients turn to their accountant first.”
