Nelson land to become M65 corridor business park

Pendle Projects Ltd, the commercial property development and investment company, has acquired a 1.5-acre site in Nelson.

The East Lancashire-based firm plans to use the land to stimulate business in the area by creating a new industrial park along the M65 corridor.

Located behind the petrol station at junction 13 of the M65, off Reedyford Road, the site was acquired from Leeds-based Eshton for an undisclosed sum.

Known as Pendle Court, the land will be transformed into three or four industrial and warehousing units. Construction of the buildings is due to get underway in January 2017.

Eshton has retained the remainder of the site, which spans 3.4 acres, for future development.

Pendle Projects Ltd’s owner, Mark Taylforth, said: “We’ve had our eye on this land for some time, but since outline planning was granted in June 2015, the site was even more attractive.

“East Lancashire’s industrial market is historically strong and there’s a lot of demand out there, so much so we have already agreed terms with a local manufacturer for a 10,000 sq ft unit.”

He added: “Pendle Court is literally seconds off the M65 and provides access to Lancashire and beyond via a number of motorways, so we’re looking forward to bringing these buildings to the market and delivering a new scheme for the county.”

Eshton director Jonathan Chapman commented: “Having achieved so much with our nearby development at Burnley Bridge Business Park, we knew there was an appetite for industrial accommodation in East Lancashire.

“When we bought the site, as an investment, in 2003 we knew it had development potential and we’re sure that Pendle Projects Ltd will work hard to deliver a successful scheme.”

Eshton is the company behind Burnley Bridge Business Park.

A main contractor for Pendle Court will likely be appointed before Christmas, with building work expected to round off by October next year.
