Winns Supports Local Sports Teams

Winn Solicitors has sponsored three local football teams to enable them to continue playing junior football in the region. The firm has provided funding to Heaton Hawks’ under 12’s boys team, Whitley Bay Boys Clubs’ under 12’s girls team and Ellington Juniors’ under 9’s team.

The money provided will go towards buying strips for the players and the general upkeep of the clubs themselves.

Heaton Hawks’ Coach, Alan Toward, said: “The sponsorship Winn Solicitors have given Heaton Hawks is invaluable, as we would struggle to play junior football every week due to high running costs every season and the cost of football strips.

“We continue to be appreciative of their support and I must again say a massive thank you on behalf of my team and the club for the kindness and generosity shown by the company.”

Heaton Hawks JFC are celebrating 20 years as a club this year. When the club first started it had one boys team with 15 players, the club now have over 35 teams from the age of under 7 to an adult team – including several girls’ teams consisting of over 400 kids playing and training every week.

Clint Milnes, Coach at Whitley Bay Boys Club, said: “I am thrilled with the support Winns have shown us. Our under 12 girl’s first team has just been set up, so the sponsorship from the company is playing a vital part in the establishment and development of the team at this stage.

“The money will go towards strips and the general upkeep of the team and I’d like to thank Winns wholeheartedly for their backing in getting them up and running.”

Winns’ support will go a long way to ensuring these kids can continue playing sports in our region. Without the backing of local businesses, these clubs would struggle to raise the funds needed to keep themselves kitted out and to be able to keep the teams competing.
