Success of Training Leads to New Office

Expected Turnover Doubled By Sunderland Company

Prompting Expansion and Office Move

Sunderland based training provider, JB Skills Training, announced earlier this year that it had smashed the £1million barrier in their second year of trading, but the latest figures show this to be a shy estimation of the truth!

In fact, at the end of the company’s financial year, the team had hit close to £2 million turnover in its second year of trading.

Managing director, Dave Macmillan is now forecasting a turnover of more than £4m for the forthcoming year – another growth of more than 50%.

To celebrate the figures and the subsequent growth in team, which now totals 38 people, the company has taken new offices in Sunderland’s Software Centre.

The move also reflects the growth of the services and industries covered by the training provider, which offers apprenticeships, learner loans, individual functional skills and bespoke company training.

JB Skills works with individuals and organisations of all sizes across the region, a number of other UK cities and further afield in Europe.

Managing director Dave Macmillan, who has taken over the day-to-day running of the company from CEO and co-founder Jeff Bentham, said:

“As a company delivering funded training, we are flying but we are not going to sit back and enjoy it.

“Now is the time to work even harder and create even more opportunities. We have expanded our team with an exciting mix of skill sets and are moving more into creating training and apprenticeships for future proof industries such as the creative digital sector.

“Our core services and funders will remain and we will deliver quality as we always have done. But there are gaps in the market and we are keen to spot them, fill them and capitalise on them. We did this with the care and health sector a year ago and our Skills 2 Care division is performing incredibly well.”

The company is currently investing in a new IT system and a new website, as well putting their money where their mouth is and investing in apprenticeship training for many of their own team. There are opportunities being created to join the team all the time – especially in the creative and digital arena. More information is available by calling 0191 510 5519.
