Dozens of jobs lost at Carlisle-based Mitchell Dryers
The administrators brought in for a floundering industrial equipment supplier in Cumbria have announced the loss of dozens of jobs.
Accountancy and financial advisory firm Armstrong Watson has confirmed that 27 jobs at Mitchell Dryers Limited have been cut.
Prior to hitting rough waters, the Carlisle-based firm employed a team of 32 staff.
Mike Kienlen, a joint administrator, explained that the redundancies were “regrettably” a necessity due to the lack of current work at Mitchell Dryers.
He said in a statement: “Although talks with parties interested in purchasing the business continue and a number of potential future orders are being discussed with customers, the lack of current work in the factory means that we regrettably need to make these redundancies.
“We are retaining five members of the team at this stage to ensure that current orders placed are completed on schedule.”
Speaking further, Mike said he and his team are “grateful for the support” of Mitchell Dryers’ customers who have retained the firm’s services even as it entered administration.
