Hat-trick of national contracts wins for North East furniture firm

North East furniture manufacturer Godfrey Syrett has won a hat-trick of new national contracts amounting to over £2.2m.

The Durham & Newcastle-based firm, which operates in the education, public, leisure, defence and commercial sectors is reporting continued growth across all sectors.

Following a competitive tender process the company has won a new contract with global construction company, Skanska to supply accommodation furniture to a multi-million pound purpose-built military training centre in Worthy Down, Winchester.

The project will see the relocation of much of the Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration to the site, which will deliver world-class training facilities for key support personnel from each of the UK’s armed forces.

The furniture specialists have also won a contract worth over £1m with the University of the West of England (UWE) to furnish its new £50 million state-of-the-art building, which will house the Bristol Business School and Bristol Law School. The company had to beat a host of national competitors to win the project.

Godfrey Syrett will work closely with the University to provide creative solutions to complement the new social and learning spaces within the building which will offer its students and staff an innovative way of studying and working.

David Hall, group sales director at Godfrey Syrett said: “We are delighted to have been awarded these two fantastic projects following a lengthy and highly competitive tender process. We have a wealth of experience in delivering projects for both the education and defence sectors and have previously worked with UWE on a number of projects over the past fifteen years. We look forward to assisting both organisations in delivering these significant schemes.”

The firm has also been awarded a new commercial contract with Lyreco, a worldwide distributor of workplace products. Working as the contract’s lead supplier, Godfrey Syrett will be delivering office furniture solutions to new multi-million pound premises on behalf of an international engineering company in Stafford, which will house over 400 staff.

Following a design brief by architects Peter Haddon & Partners, Godfrey Syrett will create open communication spaces with improved facilities for meetings, visiting touchdown, flexible and smart working, breakout and training facilities. The firm is furnishing the entire 197,000sqft building with a variety of workstations, seating, desks and benches from its portfolio as well as bespoke meeting tables and storage.
