Clarke Willmott's limb loss event raises vital funds

Bristol law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has donated over £6,600 to the Meningitis Research Foundation following its successful ‘Life After Limb Loss’ event.

The event was the latest in a series of fundraising and awareness events organised by lawyers at Clarke Willmott, and took place at the firm’s city centre offices.

The event was a sell-out with 100 delegates attending to discuss key issues and share knowledge during several sessions throughout the day.

Bringing together legal and medical professionals, case managers, and charities the event featured several speakers including Clarke Willmott lawyers, NHS surgeons, charity representatives, survivors of meningitis, those involved in the rehabilitation of meningitis victims, prosthetic providers and DiabetesUK.

‘Life After Limb Loss’ was organised with leading London barrister’s chambers, 12 King’s Bench Walk, and Meningitis Research Foundation and was kindly sponsored by prosthetic providers, London Prosthetic Centre, Ossur and Blatchford.

Stephen Trump, Partner at Clarke Willmott, said: “Everyone here is delighted that the Life after Limb Loss event was such a success and that we have been able to raise such a huge amount of money for the Meningitis Research Foundation. This will add to the £7,000 we raised through a similar amputation related event in 2014 for the charity.

“These events tend to attract professionals from the medical and legal professions plus charities working in this field, and this year’s event was no different, attracting an impressive mix of people.

“We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future and to raising more money for the Meningitis Research Foundation.”

Funds raised will go towards the Meningitis Research Foundation annual family day, ‘Pushing The Boundaries’ 2017, which will take place on 16 February at Rivermead Leisure Complex and Gym in Reading.

Pushing the Boundaries is an annual support day for children and their families living with the after-effects of meningitis and septicaemia. The day provides an opportunity for these young people to get involved in sport and allows parents to hear and learn from expert clinicians specialising in rehabilitation medicine.
