Nursery highly commended in national industry award
Staff at a Paignton day nursery are celebrating being ‘Highly Commended’ at the prestigious Nursery World Awards for its outstanding commitment to working with parents.
Nursery manager, Carly Wilkinson, said: “We were thrilled with the award – it’s fantastic to have such a resounding independent endorsement for the work we do.
“Our priority is ensuring that we meet the specific needs of the children in our care, and we believe a big part of that is working closely with their families.
“A big part of that is making sure we’re around when we’re needed: Mama Bear’s Nurseries only close on bank holidays and during Christmas Week.
“And we support our families in whatever way we’re needed, which might even mean attending court hearings with vulnerable families, or supporting them through housing applications, and this was recognised by the judging panel.
“Our nursery was awarded ‘Outstanding In All Areas’ by Ofsted, and we view this as a standard we must continually live up to if we are to keep providing the best service we can for our families.”
Mama Bear’s Catherine Denyer was also nominated in the Nursery World Awards, in the category of ‘Regional Manager of 2016.’
Mama Bear’s Day Nursery was founded in 2002 by husband and wife team Bev and Tony Driffield. Through its high standards and commitment to affordable childcare, the nursery group has grown to encompass 22 nursery settings in Bristol, Somerset and Devon.
The Midvale Road nursery was formerly the Nippers Childcare Centre and joined the Mama Bear’s group on 1 November 2012.
