Raising a glass to development

For over 100 years, Lowrie Foods have been synonymous with quality, reliability and stability in the North East food industry. Since the 1800’s Lowries have kept up with trends and market changes, so when an investment opportunity close to their headquarters arose, they were quick to act.

Tom Lowrie, Company Director said “We have been based in the same premises on Walker Road in Newcastle since the 1800’s and have a strong relationship with the area, so when the opportunity to purchase a disused warehouse arose, we were quick to act. We are always keen to invest in the area and help create employment opportunities wherever possible.”

Another strong relationship that Lowries have is with City centre law firm Short Richardson & Forth, who themselves have been based in Newcastle for over 30 years. It was therefore an obvious choice as to who would provide legal representation throughout this process.

Paul Earnshaw, Partner at SRF, said “We have worked with Lowrie Foods for many years and were excited to be part of this growth project. Not only were we involved at the very beginning when this property was bought but we have been advising Lowries regularly since”

One section of the newly developed space has been let to local company Tyne Bank Brewery who have not only relocated their brewery business but also opened a visitor centre this weekend where they had live music, food and of course beer tasting!

“It’s been great to be a part of a deal that sees disused space brought back to life and the really positive shift towards growth in the area. This growth is expected to continue as the remaining fully refurbished unit in the building is now also available. I’m sure that this will be another big benefit to Walker Road in terms of employment and engagement with the community” added Paul.

Anyone wishing to take a look at the brewery and attend the opening weekend can do so by visiting www.tynebankbrewery.co.uk where they can find full details.
