Todd Waste Management Awarded Askham Bryan Waste Contract

A North Yorkshire waste and recycling business has secured a deal to handle the waste produced by local land-based college.

Thirsk based Todd Waste Management has been appointed to deal with the waste which is generated at Askham Bryan College York based campus.

The long-term contract, will see Todd Waste Management based at Thirsk Industrial Park in Thirsk, collect 5 different waste streams on site. The waste will be sorted and processed, making sure it is diverted from landfill, allowing the college to boost their green credentials and waste no more.

Todd Waste Management’s Commercial Director Matthew Pearson said: “We are delighted to win the waste and recycling contract at Askham Bryan College’s York Campus. We look forward to working with the college, ultimately achieving zero to landfill.

“Staff and students at the College are already keen to learn more about the zero to landfill process, something we will work with the College on delivering the correct message for the best results.”

The contract will initially have 35 wheelie bins at Askham Bryan College for on-site segregation of glass, food, paper & cardboard and cans & plastic bottles as well as containers for general waste.

Matthew added: “We met the team at Askham Bryan College a couple of times prior to being awarded the contract. The meetings allowed us to build a trusting relationship and refine a bespoke site waste management plan that suited both parties. The meetings will continue to ensure the best service is provided and to work with the college, both staff and students.”

Mr Geoff Metcalfe, Head of Estates commented: “The College is continually looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and teach our student body about the importance of living in a greener environment. We are delighted to be working with Todd’s in achieving this common goal.”
