BBC star makes guest appearance at SCA
One of the BBC’s best-loved celebrities has made a high-profile visit to Prudhoe Mill to launch SCA’s fund-raising activities in support of the annual Children in Need charity event.
Pudsey the bear joined employees, media and local schoolchildren to announce a one-night-only shuttle bus service linking the mill car park to Prudhoe Castle – venue for the BBC North East’s big community event.
And keen not to be over-shadowed by Pudsey, Cushelle brand ambassador Kenny the koala joined in the celebrations, thrilling local youngsters from Prudhoe West First School – who mobbed the two furry friends.
Cath Frost who is coordinating SCA’s involvement said: “As soon as we heard this year’s event was coming to the town, our employees were keen to get involved.
“Although the Castle is a great venue for the evening, it was built hundreds of years before parking spaces were invented – so we were delighted to be able to offer our car park to families attending Children in Need.
“Parking is free of charge, and we are providing shuttle buses up the hill to the Castle. But we are hoping people will make a donation towards the charity on the night.
“Our catering staff are also raising money by baking cupcakes and selling them during breaks and at lunchtime. It’s a real team effort and fundraising is also taking place across our other UK sites.
“It was great to have Pudsey come along with kids from Prudhoe West First School to launch our car parking operation – and, by coincidence, our own mascot Kenny the Cushelle koala was also here to lend a hand.”
