Dinosaurs in the Wild comes from the minds behind Walking with Dinosaurs

Prehistoric beasts to descend on Manchester in 2017

A prehistoric attraction is set to bring a multi-million pound boost to Greater Manchester’s tourist offer next year.

Dinosaurs in the Wild, a live adventure that combines theatre, theme park fun and science will open at EventCity in October 2017.

The new 70-minute attraction will aim to take families back on a 60 million-year journey into the past, using a mix of 3D effects, animatronics, sound, lighting, and storytelling to recreate a prehistoric world.

Dinosaurs in the Wild is due to open at Birmingham’s NEC in June, moving to EventCity in Manchester in the autumn.

EventCity MD Andy Orr said: “We’re thrilled Dinosaurs in the Wild will be in Manchester from next October.

“We haven’t hosted a show of this kind before but we’re very excited to do so and are positive EventCity – as the second biggest exhibition centre in the UK outside of London – will be a great home for this experience and the start of a new chapter for the venue.”

He added: “It’s going to be an amazing spectacle for all the family to enjoy and we can’t wait for the people of the city and the surrounding areas to see it.’’

Dinosaurs in the Wild was created by the producers behind the BBC TV series and subsequent live show Walking with Dinosaurs.

Producer Jill Bryant, who headed the series’ spin-off arena show, commented: “We were keen to create something new that raised the bar for live action experiences and we’re confident Dinosaurs in the Wild will do just that.

“This is a new dinosaur experience of unparalleled reality, where visitors will encounter these animals and their world in ways they have never seen before.”
