Sports networking event a success

Elite athletes from across the West Country have taken part in a unique panel interview event organised by project consultancy Nine Feet Tall.

The firm which specialises in delivery of complex change for clients, held the event in collaboration with Bristol-based solicitors Clarke Willmott LLP and Bath-based Centurion Wealth Management. The event provided an opportunity for guests to network and ask questions of the athletes from Rugby, Mountain Biking, Cricket and Modern Pentathlon.

Athletes including Mark Sorenson from Bristol Rugby, retired Cricketer Alex Gidman, former Olympic Mountain Biker Oliver Beckingsale and 2012 Olympic silver medallist in the Modern Pentathlon Samantha Murray attended the event, which was held at Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office.

The evening’s panel interview was hosted by national sports broadcaster Chris Hull who was former Head of Communications at the Football League as well as head of Nationwide’s sponsorship operation until 2011.

Attendees at the networking event were also able to enter for the chance to win signed sports memorabilia, as well as making connections with professionals from the worlds of business and professional sport.

Georgina Ball, from Nine Feet Tall, said: “We are very pleased to have had the opportunity to bring people together from both competitive sport and competitive business, and feel that this networking event has been a great success in helping people to make new connections.

“We have been privileged to be able to welcome some fantastically accomplished sportsmen and women, and our guests have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to quiz them about their careers and successes.”

Kevin Jones, Partner and Head of the sport sector team at Clarke Willmott, said: “We are delighted to have been able to host this networking event alongside our partners at Nine Feet Tall and Centurion Wealth Management.

“We hope that all our guests enjoyed the chance to chat to some professional sportspeople, and also relished the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals.”

Stuart Doughty, from Centurion Wealth Management, said: “This rekindled initiative to help the worlds of sport and business to interact will see a six-monthly rotation between Bath and Bristol given the depth of sporting talent in our area.”
