Leeds care home operator to expand in Bradford

Leeds-based Horizon Healthcare Homes (Ltd) has started work on the development of a new care home facility in Allerton, Bradford which will create 20 local jobs. This comes on the back of their Beckside Lodge care home in Bradford being awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). It is the first care home in Bradford to achieve this recognition and joins an elite group of operators achieving this rating in the UK.

Funding to support the seven-figure development of the new care home at Allerton has been provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland with an undisclosed package.

Located on the Bell Dean Road in Allerton, the new home will be called Windsor Court and resides on the former Bell Dean public house site. Windsor Court is a purpose built, new residential eight-bed home offering care for adults with learning difficulties who may also have a physical disability or sensory impairment. It aims to follow on from the success of Beckside Lodge and will be open to residents in June 2017.

The Windsor Court purpose built facility is the sixth care home owned by Horizon Healthcare Homes (Ltd). The organisation has three existing premises in Huddersfield – Langley Lodge, Hampton House and Ferndale Lodge; and another called Cranmer Court in Leeds and Beckside Lodge in Bradford.

Roger Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Healthcare Homes Ltd said: “Work is well underway at AIlerton for the construction of Windsor Court. We aim to provide the same superb levels of service and support as replicated in our other care homes and most notably recognised at Beckside Lodge where we are delighted with the recent ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. This is in recognition of the exceptional care and impressive surroundings we offer to not just the people we support but also their relatives, visitors and our staff.

“The new home offers services to adults with learning difficulties and is in response to the increasing demands for our services. We are pleased to be creating 20 new jobs which shows our commitment to investing in the Bradford area and offering local employment opportunities. The Royal Bank of Scotland provided funding to help the development of Beckside Lodge three years ago and we are delighted that they have continued to demonstrate their confidence in our business and structured loan facilities to assist our most recent new build. This is a very exciting time for Horizon Healthcare Homes Ltd.”

Bryn Bates, Relationship Director, Healthcare at Royal Bank of Scotland added: “Roger and the team have achieved fantastic success over recent years and we are proud to be assisting his latest growth plans. The CQC rating has been the real icing on the cake for a company that provides a truly excellent service to the communities in which they operate. The construction work is going well at Windsor Court and we look forward to the completion of the project next year.”
