Bond Dickinson announces new Bristol office charity

National law firm Bond Dickinson LLP, which has a large office in Bristol, has announced that St Peter’s Hospice will be the office’s chosen charity for the next two years.

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice, caring for 2,000 patients every year. Bond Dickinson has pledged its support to the hospice with plans to support the charity through a range of charitable and fundraising activities including sporting events, dress down days, cake sales, quizzes, fayres and payroll giving.

Bond Dickinson is already heavily involved in supporting local charities in Bristol including Bristol Sport Community Foundation, Survive and Ronald MacDonald House, its previous office charity for which the firm raised around £15,000 during its partnership, a success the firm is aiming to replicate for St Peter’s Hospice. The office also supports other organisations including Oasis Brightstowe where it runs a successful mentoring programme.

Jonathan Bower, partner at Bond Dickinson, said: “The work that St Peter’s Hospice does to care for patients and their families is truly inspiring and we’re delighted to be supporting them. The hospice has a strong personal resonance for our firm as our colleague Robert Pope received care at St Peter’s Hospice before sadly passing away last year. The whole Bristol team is looking forward to engaging in the many activities planned this year in memory of Robert and in aid of St Peter’s Hospice.

“It takes £19,000 a day to run St Peter’s Hospice, a huge amount of money that is vital so the charity can continue to deliver essential care to patients and their families. We strongly believe that successful businesses have a responsibility to support their local communities and that is why we want to show our support for the hospice and the all-important work it delivers to our community every day as well as a thank you for the care Robert and his family received.”

Edd Smith, corporate fundraiser at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to have been named as Bond Dickinson’s charity partners for the next two years. Support from local businesses is vital for us to continue caring for patients and their families, both at the hospice and in the community.

“We’re very much looking forward to working with Bond Dickinson and excited to see what great fundraising ideas they have in store. We’re grateful for the support.”

Opening in Bristol in 1998, Bond Dickinson provides legal services across a range of sectors including financial institutions, insurance, retail, energy, transport, manufacturing, real estate, and private wealth. In Bristol, it employs more than 250 people.
