Coffin Mew targets further southern expansion following merger

South East-based law firm Coffin Mew and regional legal offices Charles Lucas & Marshall have announced they are to merge in a move that significantly expand both firms’ reach in the South.

Set to be formally completed in March, the deal will create a new firm with over 200 employees spread across offices in London, Portsmouth, Southampton, Brighton and Gosport, along with Charles Lucas & Marshall’s Newbury, Wantage and Swindon offices.

According Coffin Mews’ Chief Executive Officer, the merger will create one of the largest law firms in the south and is another step on its journey to becoming a £20m turnover company by 2020.

He added: “The ethos of Charles Lucas & Marshall is wholly compatible with our own. There is also a great synergy between our mutual specialisms. We can now present a bigger and better private client offering and bolstered corporate service offer, as well as expertise in the agriculture sector.”

Managing Partner of Charles Lucas & Marshall, Hemant Amin, commented: “Merging with one of the South’s leading law firms gives Charles Lucas & Marshall the opportunity to remain in the vanguard of legal practice in the region.

“In Coffin Mew we have found a like-minded, highly respected firm that will enhance our expertise and depth of experience, making our client service second to none and a legal force to be reckoned with in the South.”
