Crewe-based drinks giant Conviviality Plc ‘well positioned’ following 210% revenue growth
North West alcohol wholesaler and distributor Conviviality Plc has seen its pre-tax profits and revenues skyrocket following a period of strategic acquisitions.
During the 26 weeks to October 30 2016, the Crewe-headquartered company achieved a profit before tax of £7.43m, up from a loss of £4.02m in 2015.
The half-year period also saw Conviviality pull in a revenue of £782.5m, which is 210% more than the £251.9m recorded for the 27 weeks to November 1 2015.
Over the last few years, the firm has made a number of acquisitions as it seeks to broaden its market foothold.
Following its £200m purchase of Matthew Clark and the £60m swoop for Bibendum, in the UK Conviviality now has access to over 25k restaurants, hotels and bars; more than 700 franchise retail outlets; and around 400 independent specialists and events.
Conviviality chairman David Adams said: “I am pleased with the trading performance of the group during the first half of the year whilst also completing the acquisition of Bibendum PLB group, which provides the business with a complementary proposition and further strengthens our leading position both in the on-trade and as a center of excellence for wine.”
Conviviality, Mr Adams explained, is now structured into three distinct business units: Conviviality Direct, which serves the on-trade through Matthew Clark and Bibendum propositions; Conviviality Retail, which serves the off-trade and focuses on its franchisee model and strategic partnerships; and Conviviality Trading, which provides brand agency expertise and sourcing to suppliers and retailers.
The chairman continued: “The recent acquisitions and new structure result in Conviviality being well positioned in its market with a robust business model that provides a unique positioning with both its suppliers and its customers.”
