Growth delivers £34m turnover for North West law firm Horwich Farrelly

Insurance industry law firm Horwich Farrelly has achieved double-figure growth for the 2015/16 financial year.

The Manchester-based company’s turnover increased by 21% to £34m, up from £28m the year previous.

Bosses have attributed the growth to a series of new client wins and an 18% increase in the volume of instructions, as well as the integration of the former Greenwoods personal injury team in November 2015.

Last year, the company installed John O’Roarke as its chairman and announced a number of other senior hires to support its expansion into non-motor areas, in particular public liability and employer’s liability.

Among the appointments were Thomas Reynard as chief operating officer; new partners Alistair Graham, Mark Dickson, Martin McKenna and Tony McLoughlin; and a 13-strong batch of newly qualified solicitors in November.

John O’Roarke said: “2015-16 has been our most successful year yet. As well as increasing turnover by over a fifth, our headcount grew by 10% to 730, in order to ensure we can meet the needs of our expanding client roster.

“2015-16 presented a number of exciting opportunities for the firm. This included the integration of the former Greenwoods PI team into our large and complex injury group, now operating from our offices in the city and Southampton, and making us the leading catastrophic injury adviser in the UK.”

He added: “I believe Horwich Farrelly is building a strong foundation for strategic growth over the years ahead.”
