Develop your workforce with Apprenticeships

Newcastle City Learning - part of Newcastle City Council, based at Westgate Community College, provides dedicated apprenticeship support to both learners and employers – taking great care to ensure the correct apprentice is recruited to meet each business’ needs.

Employment and skill coordinators, Elaine Withycome and Dan Gibson, have 30 years combined experience of delivering apprenticeship support to businesses region wide. They provide bespoke, tailored advice and support to each business based on their needs, not only to help identify skill gaps within the business, but also plan for future workforce development through apprenticeships.

Elaine added: “As employment and skills coordinators at Newcastle City Learning, Dan and I have extensive experience and knowledge of working cross-sector; public, private, voluntary and within the community to ensure a smooth apprentice recruitment experience” says Elaine.

Newcastle City Learning has coordinated apprenticeship recruitment for over 150 employers, ranging from SME’s to larger organisations, many of which have gone on to recruit further apprentices.

“Many businesses are unaware of the scope of apprenticeships on offer. “With seven programme sectors across the region including; Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Care, Business, Administration and Law, Health Public Services and Care, Education and Training, Information and Communications Technology, Leisure Travel and Tourism and Retail and Commercial Enterprise, so many businesses can benefit from an apprentice”.

With the introduction of the apprenticeship reforms just around the corner, many businesses are unclear on how this will affect them, so Newcastle City Learning is offering all eligible businesses FREE one-to-one advice sessions so they fully understand them and the impact on their business.
