Rail firm tracks new apprentices to support growth

A Warrington engineering and rail firm has thrown its support behind National Apprenticeship Week (March 6-10) – as it gears up to hire two new apprentices to help achieve its ambitious growth targets.

Jones Nuttall Ltd, which is tracking turnover in excess of four million pounds this year, is looking to expand its network of clients in 2017 and beyond and is expecting to create a raft of new jobs in the process, including two new apprentices.

The family owned company, based on Bewsey Industrial Estate, is aiming to ensure there are no hold ups or delays as it sets out to increase turnover by ten per cent in 2017, through new contract wins and a slice of £3billion pounds worth of government rail investment money.

And it has enlisted the help of the Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub to help achieve that growth, which includes plans to employ at least four highly skilled engineers and two new apprentices in the next twelve months.

“We’ve worked on major projects all over the world with some of the biggest global names in rail,” said Jones Nuttall commercial manager Mary Dillon. “But we remain as ambitious as ever and we’re all really keen to kick on and accelerate the growth of the business.”

Now in its tenth year, National Apprenticeship Week takes place between March 6-10 and celebrates the positive impact apprenticeships and traineeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

“The two new apprentices will play an important part in our growth because we can train them to meet our very specific business needs,” Mary added. “Apprentices are at the heart of our industry and our business and that’s why we’re delighted to support National Apprenticeships Week.”

With a foot in the past and an eye on the future, Mary believes it’s an incredibly exciting time for Jones Nuttall and admits the company is grateful for outside expertise to help ensure the journey to growth is both dynamic and smooth. Working with the Growth Hub, Jones Nuttall has received funding support for a new customer relationship management system for its website and the support of a business advisor to steer them through the company’s next phase of growth.
