Nine new recruits at growing Ningbo Palletised Distribution

An award-winning transport and logistics company has taken on nine new members of staff on the back of continued growth.

And the new employees at Wrexham-based Ningbo Palletised Distribution now have permanent full-time employment, after previously being either unemployed or working for agencies.

The new arrivals will take on roles as drivers, sales reps, warehouse operatives, and management.

The recruitment drive comes after the firm won new contracts, added specialist hazardous materials trucks to its division, and launched Ireland Express, a dedicated next-day service to Ireland, towards the end of 2016.

Ningbo has put the infrastructure in place and is on track to grow its turnover from £6m to £8m by the end of 2017.

Ningbo’s managing director, Chris Stockton, said: “We have experienced good growth in the last few months and the signs are very positive that this will continue throughout 2017.

“We have been upbeat and aggressive since the Brexit vote.

“The staff at Ningbo play an incredibly important role in helping the business to grow and be successful. A lot of effort goes into recruiting and retaining high-quality people who I value massively.

“I’m looking forward to the nine new team members settling in and helping the company continue to expand and strive for excellence.

“It’s fantastic that we have been able to offer them full-time employment here at Ningbo.”

Katie Arthur, who worked for Ningbo four years ago before leaving to go on maternity leave, returns in a management role.

Nathan Sumner and Scott Pitchford join the warehouse team after working for agencies doing temping work.

Michael Bartley, Tony Williams, Gary Dugmore, David Gardyjas, and Kevin Smith bolster the company’s driving division after temporary contracts with agencies ended just before Christmas.

Scott Evans also joins in a Ningbo Hardware sales role. An ex-RAF serviceman, he spent two years in the Falklands and was in charge of military assets on the island. He also balances work at Ningbo with a semi-professional boxing career.

Scott said: “I’m really enjoying being full time at Ningbo as the whole company has a good atmosphere around it.

“As part of the sales team, I liaise with all of our different departments to get our invoices out and ensure the smooth purchase of our products for customers.

“Becoming one of the nine new full time employee is brilliant news and will help the firm grow even bigger.”

Ningbo, which was formed in 1993, also offers a next day pallet delivery and collection service throughout the UK for normal goods, and is part of the UPN and Palletline networks.

It employs 45 members of staff and has a fleet of 27 lorries, 20 additional trailers and four vans. In addition to the UK and Ireland, it delivers to all of Europe.

It also offers businesses the option of pallet storage, pick and pack, and container unloading with a bespoke fully tracked and traced warehouse system.

Ningbo Palletised Distribution is part of the Ningbo Group. Chris’ other businesses include Ningbo Furniture, a supplier of contract furniture.
