Trethowans sponsors The Ginormous Teddy Bears Picnic
Leading law firm Trethowans is sponsoring a brand new fundraiser for The Murray Parish Trust - The Ginormous Teddy Bears Picnic - set to take place across the South West from June 5.
The Ginormous Teddy Bears Picnic is aiming to raise funds for the Trust’s #2MillionSteps campaign, anationwide appeal to build a state of the art, children’s emergency and trauma department at University Hospital Southampton – which serves the South of England. This project was one of three chosen by George Osborne in the 2016 Spring budget to receive government match funding. To date, University Hospital Southampton has committed £800,000 to the project. Through their #2MillionSteps campaign, The Murray Parish Trust, supported by Southampton Hospital Charity, will strive to raise the remaining £2 million over the next two years ensuring the development of this much-needed department commences as planned.
The Murray Parish Trust, was originally set up by actors Jim Murray and Sarah Parish, to raise funds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton hospital following the passing of their daughter Ella Jayne in 2009. The trust has raised nearly £400,000 for the PICU.
Mother, Trustee and founder, Sarah Parish: “We wanted an event that would catapult our cause into the hearts and minds of the region but at the same time bring some fantastic facts, fun and a smile to the faces of many children. And so The Ginormous Teddy Bears Picnic was born. We are delighted that Trethowans are supporting our new giant fundraiser.”
Chris Whiteley, Managing Partner, Trethowans: “Trethowans are a compassionate firm and we really wanted to make a big difference in our region. We fully support the work of The Murray Parish Trust and wanted to help them raise the essential funds for the 2 million steps campaign and what a great way to do it by enabling children to smile and have fun whilst learning.”
Trethowans, with offices in Poole, Salisbury, Southampton and Winchester, has signed up as the fundraiser’s lead sponsor for two years in order to enable The Murray Parish Trust to kick start this amazing new event.
