Neston barbershop Style enters new era as founder’s daughter takes over
Style, the Neston-based barbershop, is marking a new era as the next generation steps up to take the helm of the family business.
Tony Collins, who founded Style in 1980, has retired and transferred the company to his daughter Emma Parry.
With experience in a number of office management roles, Emma will extend the shop’s opening hours and operate an enhanced presence on social media as she takes Style forward.
The business originated in Chester but moved to Liverpool Road in Neston three years later. Style has been based on Bridge Street since 1990.
Emma said of her new role: “We’re a well-known family business and many of our customers have been coming here for years. But I am also looking to shake things up a little bit!
“Customer experience remains the focus. Getting a haircut should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.”
She continued: “At Style, we have high standards for our staff, who still come to work in smart dress, and we provide today’s newspapers and free wi-fi for our customers. We also stock a fridge-full of beer as well as soft drinks and lollipops for children.”
The company’s transferral to Emma was supported by local accountants Phillip Bates & Co.
Tony commented: “The support of Phil and his team has really been invaluable to us over the years.
“In transferring the business over to Emma, I have felt reassured that Phil and his team were, and continue to be with us every step of the way.”
Discussing the support of Phillip Bates & Co, Emma said: “I’m very much learning and the team at Bates & Co have been a massive support.
“The accounts in previous roles I’ve held have been very different. I feel happier and more confident knowing that the team at Bates are always there.”
Speaking further, she said: “We also love welcoming Phil when he comes in to get his hair cut!”
Accountant Phil Bates commented: “We have a great relationship with Tony and Emma at Style and over the years have really enjoyed seeing the business go from strength to strength.”
