Bilton School partnership boosts access to sport and activities for local community

A new partnership between Bilton School and School Lettings Solutions (SLS) will boost access to sports and performing arts facilities for thousands of residents across Rugby.

Bilton School has joined forces with SLS to provide improved facilities for activities such as fitness classes, dance workshops, music lessons and craft groups.

SLS partners with schools, academies and colleges to fully manage their facilities at zero cost to them, whilst linking them with local community groups in need of affordable space.

The school will play host to activities, such as theatre groups and football teams, and is also offering low cost gym memberships at £9.99 per month. Local groups can hire its facilities, which include an astro turf pitch, activity studio, a theatre, and a sports hall, for regular classes or one-off events.

As well as getting more students from Bilton School into after-school activities, the partnership aims to help people from the local community to take up new hobbies.

Ranjit Samra, chief executive principal of Bilton School, said: “We’re really excited to partner up with School Lettings Solutions to create greater access to our facilities for the wider community. We’re proud of the facilities we offer to our students, such as our activity studio and fitness suite, and it makes sense to us that they are not lying unused on evenings and weekends. The partnership with SLS will also help us to generate more income, which will be beneficial to students for years to come.

“We’ve already got some great partners signed up to use our facilities, such as ASH Stage Productions and Vision Football Academy, and we’re looking forward to getting more on board.”

SLS currently works with more than 120 schools nationwide, helping them to make the best use of their facilities. It provides a fully managed service, including managing bookings and staffing the facilities to ensure rooms are secure and ready for the next school day. The business is expanding across the country and is looking to sign up schools in the West Midlands, which are currently facing hundreds of thousands of pounds of funding cuts.

Paul Andrews, director of SLS, said: “It’s great to welcome Bilton School as our latest partner. The school has brilliant facilities and we’ve already had lots of booking enquiries. We’re passionate about ensuring people have access to opportunities that boost their health and wellbeing, so we’re keen to provide support that helps clubs to thrive.

“There is huge potential to provide more places like this for people of all ages to come together, which will be really positive for the area. At the same time, our partnerships provide a new stream of income for schools.”
