Pacifica Group acquires Megan Technical

Durham-headquartered The Pacifica Group, a UK leader in home services provisions, has bolstered its Appliance Services division with the acquisition Bolton-based Megan Technical Services.

Pacifica expects to increase its workload to in excess of 250,000 home visits per year with the move, while increasing its current turnover of more than £30m.

All of Megan Technical Services’ staff, which includes 27 field engineers, will be retained, taking the Group’s workforce to in excess of 350 employees.

Established in 2001, Megan Technical Services is an independent service provider for domestic appliance brands and warranty providers, operating out of three locations in Bolton, Leeds and Gateshead.

The business’ Bolton depot will now become a specialist centre for Electrolux, cementing the Pacifica Group’s ties with the multinational home appliance manufacturer, with all staff from Megan’s Gateshead site transferred to the Pacifica Group’s Washington location.

Paul Feek, Managing Director of Pacifica Appliance Services, said: “Over the last three years the Group has implemented and delivered a new operation strategy, and the smooth acquisition of Megan Technical Services will allow us to deliver further growth and employment opportunities across the UK.

“The addition of experienced field engineers to our existing workforce will significantly increase the Group’s capacity to deliver our core services to customers and extended policyholders, as well as strengthen our relationship with one of the largest appliance manufacturers in the world.”

Dave Marshall, Managing Director of Megan Technical Services, said: “We have enjoyed a great deal of success over the past 16 years and I am confident that the sale to the Pacifica Group will continue this trend. Our team of engineers are vastly experienced and will be a great addition to the Pacifica Group’s workforce.”

Ward Hadaway provided legal advice to Pacifica Group on the acquisition, with HSBC supporting the purchase, as the banking partner of the Pacifica Group.

James Nightingale, Corporate Partner at Ward Hadaway, who led the law firm’s team advising on the deal, said: “We are delighted to have assisted Pacifica Group on this successful acquisition which promises to help the company deliver further growth over the coming years.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Pacifica Group as it continues with this further growth.”
