Wosskow Brown step out for free legal advice

An award-winning Sheffield solicitors firm will be taking part in a sponsored 10km walk for legal advice charities.

Wosskow Brown Solicitors will be joining with local firms, chambers, legal teams, and judges to raise money for free legal advice charities in Yorkshire, such as Citizens Advice and Law Centres.

The Sheffield Legal Walk is organised by Yorkshire Legal Support Trust, part of a network of Legal Support Trusts that work with the Access to Justice Foundation to facilitate access to specialist legal advice for the most vulnerable people in our communities.

The Yorkshire Legal Support Trust raises funds to support free legal advice charities in Yorkshire to those who cannot afford it.

Emilda Morgans, partner at Wosskow Brown, said: “We are looking forward to putting on our walking shoes for the upcoming Sheffield Legal Walk, and joining with our colleagues across the region to stand for the rights of the most vulnerable.

Free legal advice centres have an important role in protecting the most vulnerable people in society, however, economic pressures have meant that funding for these centres has reduced.

The Sheffield Legal Walk will bring together people in the local legal sector, to celebrate the work of legal advice services and champion access to justice for everyone.

Laura Cassidy, from Yorkshire Legal Support Trust, said: “The Sheffield Legal Walk is a fantastic and fun way to raise awareness and funds for free legal advice charities in our region. Cuts to legal aid affect the poorest hardest and we strongly believe that everyone should have access to legal advice when they need it.

“We are thrilled that Wosskow Brown will be taking part in the walk and supporting this important cause.”

The walk will take place on the 15th May 2017, starting at Sheffield Crown Court at 5.:30pm.
