'High-profile' Leeds law firm

Wish you were here? ‘High profile’ Leeds law firm sees profile soar even higher!

IT’S not every day the skyline HQ of Leeds lawyers Milners finds itself propelled into the media alongside a set of new partners with a difference – including the sweeping peaks of Montenegro, the sandy beaches of Paphos, and a remote island off Sweden.

But that’s what happened this week when the leading travel guide Lonely Planet singled out the Yorkshire city – and major legal hub – as one of this year’s must-see destinations.

The top-floor Whitehall Waterfront offices of Milners was used to illustrate the “confidence and culture” of Leeds city centre that earned it a spot in the Top Ten places to visit worldwide in 2017. “Perched 60m up in the sky at one of Leeds’ tallest buildings, we lay claim to having the highest legal profile in the city,” said Senior Partner and Head of Litigation, Giles Ward (pictured).

“After hitting the headlines this week, I suppose you could say it’s gone even higher!

“Leeds’ burgeoning reputation as a go-to centre for legal expertise has bolstered the city and its urban regeneration no end. From our birds-eye panoramic view of the city, we’ve watched these initiatives spring into life.

“It’s a great fillip for the whole sector to see us featured alongside such diverse European destinations in this way and cement our position on the international legal map.”

Milners, one of the longest-established solicitors in Leeds, celebrates its 120th anniversary this year.

Ward added: “If we weren’t so busy, then it would have been great to arrange a few exchange trips – purely as part of our business development strategy of course!”

Note to editors: Leeds was awarded 5th place in the Lonely Planet hotlist, ahead of Le Havre, Paphos, Moldova, Northern Germany, and Altenjo in Portugal; and behind Northern Montenegro, Galicia in Spain, the Swedish island of Gotland and top-placed Zagreb in Croatia.
