Hull digital print and brand management firm unveils new £1.3m #PrintWorks development

Springfield Solutions, the digital print, brand management and media company, has officially unveiled its £1.3m Digital #PrintWorks expansion.

The investment, at the company’s headquarters in Thomas Street, Hull, has doubled the size of its digital print operation which takes the overall building footprint from 20,000 sq ft to more than 26,000 sq ft.

Printing capacity has increased by 30% due to the extra print area and a digital press and finishing investment.

The move is a result of three years of significant growth, starting in 2014 when the company printed more than 100 million labels in a year for the first time. By 2015, this had increased to 140 million and 175 million last year.

As part of the expansion, the company has invested in a new Screen Truepress L350UV ink jet digital press and two new finishing lines from Bridlington company AB Graphics International, bringing the company’s total operation to five digital presses.

Dennis Ebeltoft, joint managing director of Springfield Solutions, said launching #PrintWorks has been a milestone in the company’s 42-year history.

Established in 1975, the company has grown from one man, one press, to employing more than 100 people locally.

Mr Ebeltoft said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be unveiling our new #PrintWorks digital print room, which heralds the next chapter in Springfield Solution’s incredible story.

“#PrintWorks is the culmination of many things: a history of innovation across all divisions of the business and special thank you to our sister company Eon Visual Media for their role in that; fantastic loyal staff, many of whom go above and beyond every day, constantly striving for improvement in everything that we do, and all our business partners that have assisted us on our journey.

“These are the values that have fuelled our growth over recent years, and ultimately led to the opening of our #PrintWorks development.”

The expansion has been made possible by taking over the building adjacent to Springfield Solutions’ existing print room, increasing the production footprint by 100%.

Mr Ebeltoft added: “The development will enable us to continue our journey of growth and gain market share.

“Having more digital presses also means we have more capacity, consistency and continuity allowing us to innovate and push the boundaries of what digital print can do, and that is great news for our clients and the industry as a whole.
