Skelmersdale manufacturer Mechan Controls to create jobs after £900k buy-out
A manufacturer headquartered in Skelmersdale is preparing to create jobs after undergoing a five-figure management buy-out.
Mabruk Farrah purchased the assets of Skelmersdale-based Mechan Controls from the Mandicom PLC Group using a £900k funding boost from NatWest to support the deal.
Following the takeover, Mabruk is now Mechan Controls’ sole shareholder and a minority shareholder of Mandicom.
Mechan Controls, which employs a team of 15, is planning to create around four new jobs at its manufacturing base at Seddon Place.
The company was established in 1971 and provides safety control switches used by international companies during the manufacturing process.
Mabruk Farrah said: “I have been a Technical director at Mechan Controls for almost two decades and witnessed it grow from a small-scale supplier to the global leader in machine safety switches it is today.
“Taking ownership of the business is a milestone for me and I am looking forward to continuing our growth and strengthening our position in the industry.”
He added: “It was important to me to work with a bank that took the time to understand the business and NatWest has really done that.”
Alistair Igo, NatWest relationship manager, commented: “Mr Farrah has a real passion for what he does which shows in his long-term employment at Mechan Controls.
“Now he has a chance to take the lead and drive forward its growth and success.”
