New hospitality training service allows staff to train in native language

A new industry training portal, thetrainingterminal.co, has been launched by senior hospitality professionals to allow staff to learn in their native language.

The website has been developed by professionals including Mark Illingworth, former group general manager of Arbor Hotels. The aim is to provide hospitality businesses with a portal for training all staff to ensure they comply with current legislation.

The website fulfils the need for staff to learn in their own language to assist their learning. Up to 10 languages are offered, helping staff to better understand and facilitating quick progression. Managers can access the portal at any time to monitor every individual’s learning.

Courses have been written by professionals including F&B managers, executive chefs and general managers, as well as sales, human resources and finance managers, who give real insight into the industry’s training needs.

The training offered includes Food Safety Level 2, Health & Safety Level 2, Food Allergens, Fire Safety Awareness, Manual Handling and First Aid Awareness. Vocational training is also included for housekeeping, waiting and bar teams.

All courses are CPD accredited and both the Food Safety and Health & Safety courses are ROSPA approved.

More courses will be added to the website each month and also in development are ‘Manager Packs’ designed to simplify the process of employing and training international staff.

These are set to cover all departments and include sample contracts, job descriptions, training records and more in line with current legislation. The aim is that these packs will empower senior staff to directly manage their recruitment process without the need for expensive agencies.

“We saw a clear need for an alternative online training portal that offers a real-world perspective. With so many migrant workers in the industry we also wanted people to be able learn in their own language to improve their understanding and pass rate.
